Some Everton fans expressed their happinesss after it emerged that the Toffees had drawn Championship side Rotherham at home in the FA Cup third round tie.
The Merseysiders will host the south Yorkshire outfit on the second weekend of January as Paul Warne’s side looks to cause an upset and claim a Premier League scalp.
Everton most recently took on Rotherham in the League Cup two years ago, with the Millers making the trip to Merseyside back in August 2018. A brace from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and a further goal from Gylfi Sigurdsson ensured smooth progression for the Toffees that night.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side will be keen to avoid a second successive third round FA Cup exit (and a fourth in five years), although the draw against Championship opposition may provide an ample opportunity to blood youngsters, give a chance to more peripheral options or even experiment with some tactical tweaks.
