Several Everton fans took to social media to express their delight at Andre Gomes’ return to action against Arsenal on Sunday.
The Portugal international came off the bench in the second half against the Gunners to make his competitive return, having broken his ankle against Tottenham in early November.
Returning from a horrific injury in less that four months, much of the narrative quickly transitioned from how amazingly fast Gomes’ recovery had been, to how influential he immediately proved to be on the pitch.
The 26-year old waltzed through the middle of the Emirates pitch, spraying brilliant long passes forward while remaining confident and composed on the ball.
Despite Everton eventually losing 3-2 to the Gunners, Gomes’ return was one of the highlights for the Toffees, with many fans lauding his performance.
Such was Gomes’ performance considered impactful, that a number of fans took to social media to claim that the former Barcelona man had put Morgan Schneiderlin, Fabian Delph and Gylfi Sigurdsson to shame.
