From triumphant highs to anxiety-inducing moments of madness, Everton’s FA Cup clash with Tottenham proved one to remember after the Toffees edged past Jose Mourinho’s side to win 5-4 after extra time.
Leads were undone as swiftly as they were rebuilt by Everton in a game which did not lack for entertainment value. A brace from Richarlison, a hat-trick of assists from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin taking his season’s goal tally to 18 were just some of the memorable individual aspects of the victory.
Despite shipping four goals, Robin Olsen also stood up to the mantle of keeping out Spurs as he was forced into some inspired shot-stopping which arguably prevented a defensive routing for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
A reflective tweet from the club’s official account was one unlikely but provocative source of discussion from lots of Everton fans, with the tweet lamenting the lack of supporters at Goodison Park in what would have been a night to remember for years to come for many Evertonians.
A proper cup tie that deserved a proper crowd.
