Everton have confirmed that Andre Gomes was able to play a full 60 minute 11-a-side game against fellow first-team players and under-23s this week without suffering any issues, and several Everton fans have expressed their delight at the news.
The Portuguese midfielder has been out of action since November after he suffered a fracture dislocation to his right ankle following a challenge from Tottenham’s Heung-min Son.
However, despite the injury appearing to be extremely serious, the 26-year old was able to return to training in late January, marking an incredible recovery rate for the midfielder.
Carlo Ancelotti revealed in January that the club’s aim would be to have Gomes back available for selection when the Blues faced Arsenal at the Emirates on February 23rd, which is this coming Sunday.
Now the club have confirmed that Gomes was able to play for 60 minutes without injury, and this has excited a number of Everton fans, who are looking forward to seeing the former Barcelona man back in action.
