Everton have reportedly missed out on signing Lyon defender Mouctar Diakhaby, according to Get French Football News.
Diakhaby is set to join La Liga side Valencia despite the Toffees having made a financially higher bid for the player.
Diakhaby is said to be joining the Spanish side for 15million euros plus add-ons, however this is reportedly less than the offer made by Everton.
The defender is expected to complete his move to Valencia by the end of the day, signing a five-year contract with the club.

Newcastle United were also reportedly in talks with Diakhaby.
Everton made a formal bid for the player at the beginning of the week however Diakhaby has now opted for a move to Spain over move to the Premier League.
With Valencia having secured Champions League football next term, it is believed that this played a key factor in the defender choosing the Spanish side over Everton.
