With Romelu Lukaku’s future very much up in the air and a lack of alternatives already in the squad, Everton will definitely be in the market for a striker in the summer.
According to the Mirror (h/t HITC), both Stoke and Everton are interested in signing Jonathan Kodjia from Aston Villa in the summer, reigniting their interest from a year ago.
Kodjia burst onto the scene in English football last season following a £2.5m move from Angers to Bristol City where he went on to score 19 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions, earning himself a £11m transfer to Villa back in August.
The Ivory Coast international cemented himself as the club’s No.1 striker early in the season and hasn’t disappointed, netting 18 goals in 36 Championship games, including seven in the last seven games.
Both Everton and Stoke are keen to add to their attacking ranks in the summer and a move for Kodjia is attractive for both but the 27-year-old surely won’t come cheap off the back of another terrific season and just one year removed from joining Villa.
