Everton have reportedly made initial contact with former Watford, Napoli and Inter Milan manager Walter Mazzarri, as speculation mounts over the safety of Ronald Koeman’s job.
This is according to Gazetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), who go as far as to say that Mazzarri could travel to England this week for talks with the Toffees.
This comes just hours after Everton shareholder Farhad Moshiri announced that he was still very much behind Ronald Koeman in the Dutchman’s efforts as manager, despite poor recent results including a 1-0 loss to Burnley at the weekend.

Mazzarri, 56, won the Coppa Italia and came second in Serie A with Napoli before taking the Inter Milan job in 2013. He left the Milan side after just 11 league games in the 2013-14 season, and didn’t return to management until taking the Watford job in 2016. He guided the Hornets to Premier League safety last season but still lost his job, being replaced by Marco Silva, who had impressed with Hull City.
His highest win percentage with any club came in his tenure as Napoli manager, winning 48.9% of his games in charge, between 2009 and 2013; however his overall win percentage as a manager is just 39.32% — not helped by his 29.27% win ratio with Watford.
