Everton are set to rival Liverpool and Chelsea for Real Madrid’s chief scout Juni Calafat, according to Telegraph Sport.
According to the Telegraph’s report, Calafat has been at the forefront of overhauling Madrid’s recruitment policy, with Los Blancos focusing their efforts on recruiting young future stars instead of ageing superstars in the last few years.
Calafat is believed to have been instrumental in Madrid’s signing of Martin Odegaard, South American quartet Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior, Eder Militao and Fede Valverde, and former Everton target Reinier Jesus.
As such, a number of Premier League clubs have now decided that they would like to benefit from his services, and are looking to pry him away from the Santiago Bernabeu.

With Everton having already moved to build a formidable team with an elite manager in Carlo Ancelotti and a highly regarded director of football in Marcel Brands, an elite level scout seems to be the logical next step.
Due to conflicting reports, it is difficult to ascertain how interested the Toffes were in Reinier in the summer, but if the Blues did indeed have an offer rejected by Flamengo, it could be interesting to see the club sign the man responsible for eventually taking Reinier away from Brazil.
With many of the club’s high profile signings having failed to impress in recent years, following Steve Walsh’s failed attempt at revolutionising the club through his director of football role, Everton are now looking to get back on track, and Calafat could be a stride in the right direction if he can live up to his reputation.
