Everton welcomed a raft of new faces to the Merseyside club during the previous summer transfer window.
One of those players was Conor Coady, who made the move to Goodison Park on a season-long loan from fellow Premier League side Wolves.
Despite it still being relatively early in the season, talkSPORT pundit and former Premier League player, Gabby Agbonlahor, has shared a claim regarding Coady’s future that should have some Toffees supporters worried.
Speaking to Football Insider, Agbonlahor had this to say when asked if the defender could make a return to Molineux next season: “I think there could be a big chance of that.
“If a new manager comes in, he might be thinking ‘Hang on a second, I want this guy back’.
“If it’s in the contract then maybe you haven’t seen the last of Conor Coady at Wolves.”
Since arriving at Goodison, the Englishman has racked up the second-highest number of clearances (49) and has the second-highest percentage of successful passes (84.9%).
This highlights how impressive he has been for Frank Lampard’s side with and without the ball. It also shows why the prospect of him going back to Wolves after his current loan deal could be a worry for the Everton supporters further down the line.
It also makes it easy to see why Agbonlahor thinks Wolves could want to see the defender return to Molineux.
However, with the Merseyside club having an option to buy Coady at the end of his loan deal, this would make it safe to suggest that should the defender carry on having a strong campaign with the Toffees, the club would then be inclined to make his stay at Goodison permanent.
Moving forward, the best thing that the Everton fans can hope for now is that the 29-year-old continues to perform well for the team and do all he can to convince the club to sign him on a permanent basis.
