Everton are looking to finalise the transfer of Burnley defender Michael Keane in a deal worth up to £25 million, according to The Times.
Manager Ronald Koeman and his side are scheduled to return for pre-season training next week and Koeman is keen on the Burnley defender to join up with the squad as soon as possible after positive discussions between the clubs were held.
Burnley have been willing to keep the England international at Turfmoor and let him run down his contract which expires next year, but now may be tempted into selling their defender for a big fee.
Keane has attracted a lot of interest over the summer, with Manchester United being the early favourites to land the Englishman, however, Jose Mourinho opted for Benfica’s Sweden defender, Victor Lindelof in a £30.7 million deal, with Goodison Park now Keane’s likely destination.
The Toffees have already made two big summer signings, with Jordan Pickford joining for £30 million and Ajax captain Davy Klaasen moving to Merseyside in a deal worth £23.6 million and a deal to sign Keane would take their summer spending over £75m before the end of June.
