Everton’s Chairman Bill Kenwright has apologised to Sam Allardyce after a survey was sent to the club’s fans asking them to rate the performance of the manager.
Speaking at his press conference ahead of Everton’s game with Newcastle on Monday night, Allardyce refused to answer any questions about the survey but gave a brief explanation about exactly what occurred.

He said:
It was a big mistake. The Director of marketing and communications has slipped up. Our head of marketing clearly doesn’t have a great understanding of football! From my point of view it was a big mistake. It has allowed (the press) to write some beautiful headlines.
Allardyce was then asked to grade his own performance as Everton boss out of ten, to which he jokingly replied “11”.
