Everton are set to be locked in a battle with Roma for the signing of Ajax youngster Justin Kluivert this summer, according to Italian outlet Tuttosport, as translated by Sport Witness.
The Toffees had a very poor season last term, with a number of the transfers failing to live up to expectations after a big summer at the club.
No manager has yet been put in place at the club and this could have an impact on whether Everton are able to convince the young attacker to join.
Roma are now a very attractive proposition, particularly after reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League this season and qualifying for the competition again ahead of next term.
The Italians are still the firm favourites to land the Dutchman, but Everton are thought to be the only competition on offer to them as both clubs look to move forward.
Kluivert reportedly favours a move to Italy but a move to Goodison Park is seemingly not out of the question, with the club’s new technical director Marcel Brands keen to engineer a deal for the prospect.
