Everton 3-2 Wolves: Everton Player Ratings

Everton conceded their first goal at Goodison Park since February as they edged past a strong Wolves side.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men were desperate for a win on Merseyside, with Wolves just one of just two clubs not to have a Premier League win yet this season, despite their Europa League qualifying campaign success. The Toffees meanwhile wanted to build upon their 4-2 win over Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup, having lost 2-0 to Aston Villa in their last league outing.

Both clubs didn’t take long to get the game into action, with Everton scoring the opening goal inside five minutes.

Moise Kean reacted quickest to a defensive mix-up between Rui Patricio and Conor Coady, with Patricio’s attempted clearance ricocheting off the Italian into the path of Richarlison, who connected with a bouncing ball to open his Premier League account for the season.

The Blues held the lead for less than five minutes, after Adama Traore skinned Lucas Digne on Everton’s left flank, cutting in along the byline and laying the ball in the path of Romain Saiss, who knocked the ball in after Seamus Coleman failed to clear.

Everton rapidly got their noses back in front, with Gylfi Sigurdsson’s deep cross from the right finding Alex Iwobi in the box, with the Nigeria international scoring his second headed goal in his second successive start for Everton this past week.

Wolves equalised again with 15 minutes remaining, after Willy Boly’s headed flick-on from a long throw found Raul Jimenez, who nodded past Jordan Pickford.

Everton eventually found their winner 10 minutes from time, with Digne’s deep cross finding Richarlison in the box, whose bullet header saw him register his second of the game to take the club onto seven points from four games.

Here is how we rated the Everton players from this encounter.
