Everton comprehensively saw off Norwich City to finish off the season in 11th place.
Goals from James McCarthy, Leighton Baines (penalty) and Kevin Mirallas sealed the win, which instilled some positivity into the club as they approach a new era at the club.
After Roberto Martinez’ sacking on Wednesday, both Joe Royle and David Unsworth took charge and handed starts to youngsters Tom Davies, Matthew Pennington and Kieran Dowell. Pennington had to be substituted due to injury, with Jonjoe Kenny also getting minutes on the pitch.
Tim Howard also played his last game for the club as he moves to Colorado Rapids this summer. The veteran played his 414th game for the club and was given a guard of honour prior to the players lap of Goodison.
That’s all she wrote for this season, a lacklustre one that ended with glimpses of where this club can go in the future. All we know is, as fans, we will be here to do this all again in August.
Up the Toffees.
