After four games in this season’s Europa League group stage, Everton are bottom, without a win on one point, and cannot qualify beyond the current stage.
For a club to have spent so much money to build upon a fairly decent squad that finished last season in seventh place in the Premier League, and to have fallen so far in the process, is both mystifying and horrifying in equal measure.
Many of Everton’s first-team regulars who were so crucial to the club’s successes last season have fallen far from grace, and the future is certainly disconcerting.
With an important game to come against Watford on Sunday, Everton will need to do their best to re-think and galvanise themselves, but how they will do so is anyone’s guess.
Anyway, Alex is unavailable this week, so I’ve picked up the club ratings duties. Tweet me and let me know what you think.
