A 1-0 win for Everton ensured that Carlo Ancelotti continued his run of having never lost his first game as manager at any of his new clubs. The goal came 10 minutes from the end through Dominic Calvert-Lewin, netting his sixth league goal of the season after a great cross from Djibril Sidibe, in a game with very few chances.
Carlo Ancelotti made two changes in his first game in charge, bringing in Seamus Coleman and Bernard to replace Tom Davies and the injured Alex Iwobi after he picked up an injury last weekend.
Burnley started the game on the front foot and won a free-kick inside two minutes that almost gave the visitors the lead. Ben Mee was picked out at the far post and headed the ball back across goal to Jay Rodriguez, who hooked the ball towards goal, but Yerry Mina was on hand to head over for a corner kick from under his own bar.
A few minutes later and it was Everton who won a free-kick in a deep position. Gylfi Sigurdsson picked out Mina, who headed the ball down into the path of Mason Holgate and from close range he shot straight at Nick Pope.

Sidibe, who is still looking for his first goal in an Everton shirt, was unlucky just after 30 minutes. The Frenchman who was playing further forward on this occasion was released by Bernard after a great flick on by Richarlison. Sidibe tried his luck from wide right of the six yard box, but Nick Pope did brilliantly to stick out a leg and deny the ball going into the bottom corner.
The game petered out for the rest of the first half as it ended 0-0. The second half was also not one of many chances with the only talking point being the goal 10 minutes from time.
Gylfi Sigurdsson won the ball back on the right wing, playing the ball forward to Sidibe, and like each of his assists against Southampton and Chelsea, he picked out Dominic Calvert-Lewin whose diving header went in off the far post.

Everton played out the remaining 10 minutes, keeping hold of possession and ended the game without Burnley registering a shot on target.
