Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been nominated for the prestigious Golden Boy award, previously won by such players as Wayne Rooney and Lionel Messi.
Established by Italian newspaper Tuttosport in 2003, the Golden Boy award is given to the player perceived to have been the most impressive in top-flight European football in a calendar year, under the age of 21.
The last four winners of the award are currently Premier League players; Renato Sanches won it in 2016, preceded by Anthony Martial in 2015, Raheem Sterling in 2014 and Paul Pogba in the previous year.

Other winners include Real Madrid’s Isco, then of Malaga; Sergio Aguero in his time at Atletico Madrid, and the inaugural award was given to Rafael van der Vaart in his time with Ajax.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin joins six other Premier League players on the shortlist, including Marcus Rashford, as well as Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele and PSG’s Kylian Mbappe.
