Gerard Deulofeu’s agent, Gines Carvajal, is angry over the reports that Barcelona are set to activate their buy-back option on the player, according to the Liverpool Echo.
New Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde wants to exercise the option to buy back the Everton player for £10.5 million after the Catalan giants turned down the option to re-sign him last summer for £6.2 million.
Deulofeu is said to be worried about how much game time he would be granted if he were to re-join Barcelona, given the venomous attacking trio the Spaniards currently boast. With the World Cup being played next summer, Deulofeu is desperate to get as much game time as he can to boost his chances of making the Spanish squad.
With Deulofeu currently unwilling to commit himself to Barcelona, Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported that Carvajal was angered when reports appeared on Monday expressing Barcelona’s interest in re-signing their former academy graduate.
Two weeks ago, Everton boss Ronald Koeman said that he hadn’t ruled out Deulofeu remaining with the Toffees next season.
Deulofeu has a contract with Everton. Unless something happens he will stay. If nothing happens I expect him to be at pre-season training.
