Everton fans may find plenty of cause for excitement after reported Toffees target David Brooks revealed his burning desire to return to the Premier League.
The Welsh international did not hold back when quizzed over his ambitions for the future in an interview with the Bournemouth Echo.
Brooks’ Bournemouth suffered a debilitating blow to their plans after seeing his second Premier League campaign cut short as a consequence of an ankle problem sustained last season.
That blow came back to haunt them as they were effectively without Brooks’ talents for much of the season, suffering relegation to the Championship at the denouement of the 2019/20 campaign.
Prior to Bournemouth’s relegation season, the former Sheffield United talent proved his ability in the Premier League when he scored seven times and registered five assists for Cherries during his successful 2018-19 campaign.
Brooks’ quotes indicate that he feels he has unfinished business in the top flight of English football:
“I think being in the Premier League – I had a full season and then got injured. From my point of view, it was cut a bit short for myself.
“I was disappointed I couldn’t really factor in last year, so I am desperate to get back in the Premier League and hopefully it’s with Bournemouth.
“Everyone wants to be playing at the big, nice stadiums and on the big occasions hopefully, when the crowds are back in.
“We are all working towards that and, with the squad we’ve got, we’ve got a really good chance.”

Brooks could represent a shrewd signing by the Everton hierarchy given his versatility, age and potential to improve.
He has been most unfortunate to miss out for the Cherries through injury, as he has otherwise exhibited a notable eye for goal and for linking up the general play of his team.
Although his quotes don’t appear to indicate that Brooks will be agitating for a move just yet, a failure for the Cherries to secure promotion may well alter Brooks’ position.
That could be an opportune moment for the Toffees to make their move for a promising young British talent.
