Everton defender Seamus Coleman has been discussing the positive approach of Marco Silva following the team’s defeat to Manchester United.
As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, the Republic of Ireland international explained how the Toffees boss set his side up at Old Trafford as Everton were consigned to a narrow 2-1 defeat.
Paul Pogba opened the scoring after netting the rebound from Jordan Pickford’s penalty save before Anthony Martial doubled United’s lead. Gylfi Sigurdsson’s spot-kick pulled a goal back for the visitors but Jose Mourinho’s men came out on top.
Coleman was quick to draw positives from Everton’s showing at Old Trafford and credited Silva for his positive tactical approach to the match.

The experienced right-back praised Silva’s methods and said:
Now for us the next step, and what the manager wants from us, is to come to these places, play against these teams and get all three points – not just one. He’s very hands-on on the training ground, attention to detail is massive and trying to get any little advantage that we can.
I suppose the big thing is belief. We obviously work on what their strengths are, but it’s also asking how can we break them down and go and win the game. All the lads will tell you we’re enjoying it and there’s big competition for places as well which is driving everyone on.
This season the manager’s style has been on the front foot, pressing and just believing in ourselves. We’re all really enjoying it.
Coleman will be keen to help Everton get back to winning ways next weekend as they prepare to face Brighton and Hove Albion at Goodison Park.
