US investors John Jay Moores and Charles Noell are looking to seal the deal within the next fortnight and complete a takeover for Everton Football Club, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Bill Kenwright has been looking to sell for a number of years now but with his health deteriorating it looks likely that more now than ever a takeover is nearing completion, one that will be met with skepticism but also potential optimism.
The US consortium had attempted to buy fellow Premier League Swansea City but a deal fell through. Since then the San Diego Padres owner and his associate have been in an exclusivity period as they looked over the clubs finances through the month of January.
Now the Liverpool Echo understand that a £200million deal is nearing completion. The report also explains that the two Chinese consortiums remain interested but with how far the current deal has progressed, those two potential groups would only be relied upon should the US Consortium deal hit a last-minute snag.
With a takeover on the horizon, is it a time for skepticism or optimism? Only time will tell but no doubt that if the new owners would be to succeed at the club, they must get the new stadium issue sorted.
