The man who says he helped discover Everton’s Bernard as a youngster is pursuing money which he says he is owed. The fee reportedly relates to the Brazilian’s transfer from Atletico-MG to Shakhtar Donetsk back in 2013.
Rubens Martins, who was once Bernard’s neighbour, says he had an agreement with the player’s father which makes him entitled to 5% of the Brazilian’s economic rights.

Whilst no official agreement was ever signed, Martins says he has recordings relating to the deal he made with Bernard’s father.
UOL, as translated by Sport Witness, say that Bernard’s father paid Martins £40,300 but Martins says he’s entitled to 5%, which works out at around £776,000.
The case is set to go to court but Bernard will not be required to attend.
Everton are said to be aware of the issue and have given Bernard permission to speak with authorities but as of yet, he’s not had to have such conversations.
