Everton are considering a bid for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Bernard, according to The Daily Mirror’s David Anderson.
The 22-year old Brazilian is reportedly unsettled in Ukraine and is in search of a new challenge this summer.
After missing out on Dyanmo Kiev winger Andriy Yarmolenko last week, Martinez has made the young forward his new number one target.
Shakhtar chairman Sergei Palkin insists he has “heard of no serious interest from Everton.”
However, the manager of Shakhtar Mircea Lucescu has criticised the forward for his poor attitude on the pitch.
To date Bernard has 14 caps for Brazil, and was part of their 2014 World Cup squad.
He helped Shakhtar to a league title in 2014. The Ukrainian outfit then finished runners up last season. He has also represented the club in the UEFA Champions League.
The 22-year old was once an Arsenal target during the early stages of his career, playing for Atletico Mineiro in his native Brazil.
The winger failed to score a single league goal last season. In fact, in 53 appearances for Shakhtar, Bernard has only scored six goals.
Do you think Bernard would be a good purchase for Everton?
