Leighton Baines is to miss the Toffees pre-season tour of Singapore as he continues his recovery from ankle surgery.
The 30-year old left back went under the knife in May, missing the final two Premier League matches last season, plus England’s 3-2 win over Estonia in June.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez claimed that the defender had been struggling with the problem for the last three years. However, the manager insists the surgery was “straightforward,” and expects Baines be available by the end of pre-season.
Baines will be joined by Darren Gibson (broken foot) and Brian Oviedo (broken toe) on the omission list to complete their recoveries from injury.
New signings Tom Cleverley and Gerard Deulofeu will travel to the Far East this weekend with their new teammates.
Youngsters Brendan Galloway, Tyias Browning, Jindrich Stanek and Conor McAleny, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Cardiff, are also in the travelling party.
Everton face Stoke City in their first Barclays Asia Trophy match on Wednesday 15th July. They will then face either Arsenal or a select XI three days later.
