Sam Allardyce has conceded that he was well aware of Everton’s plans to sack him this week.
Speaking to talkSPORT for the first time since his dismissal, as reported by BBC Sport, the former England manager opened up on how he discovered that his sacking would be little more than a formality.
It seemed to be done and dusted through the media. I think it was out there in the open for a couple of days. That leaves you with the certainty of what was going to happen.
Allardyce was appointed to steer the club away from the danger of relegation from the Premier League midway through last season and successfully achieved this, leading them to an 8th-place finish.

However, the Toffees fans grew increasingly impatient with Allardyce’s tactical approach and expressed their discontent via social media and at the final games of Everton’s season.
The Toffees’ hierarchy are now on the lookout for a new permanent manager, with former Watford and Hull City manager Marco Silva seemingly in the frame.
Silva was eyed to replace Ronald Koeman at Goodison Park before the turn of the year, however, Watford were adamant that the promising manager would not exit Vicarage Road.
He was sacked shortly after this debacle, however, and Everton are clearly keen to pursue him once again.
