Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen remains a target for Everton, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The 27-year-old was originally identified by Roberto Martinez, back in March, as the Spaniard looked to bring in a ‘keeper to replace the departing Tim Howard.
Cillessen was once again linked to Everton as his former boss Frank de Boer was favourite to take the vacancy at Goodison Park. Now, with Ronald Koeman’s appointment set to be announced next week, the fellow Dutchman is still a target.
The Dutch international played in all but one league game for Ajax last term, contributing largely to his side which conceded just 21 times in all 34 league games.
Fellow Premier League side Manchester United were keen on signing Cillessen last summer as they braced themselves for the departure of David de Gea.
Of course, the move never came off, but Cillessen could see his dream of playing football in England’s top flight come true this summer as Koeman is reportedly interested.
With 30 international caps for Holland as well as Champions League and World Cup experience, Cillessen would be seen as an improvement on current goalkeeper Joel Robles.
Cillessen could be the first of many signings as The Blues look to overhaul their squad following two successive bottom half finishes.
