Carlo Ancelotti has recently played down talk of Everton spending heavily in the January transfer window, but there could be some outgoings from Goodison Park.
The Toffees have a bloated squad which has resulted in a number of players being largely sidelined throughout the season.
It’s a difficult juggling act keeping everybody happy over the course of a full campaign, but there are a number of players with uncertain futures who have been on the periphery under Ancelotti. Don’t be surprised if any of these four move on from Merseyside over the next month or so:
Jonjoe Kenny has amassed fewer than 300 minutes of playing time in all competitions this season and finds himself behind Seamus Coleman in the right-back pecking order. The 23-year-old has barely even been used from the bench in recent weeks, so he might want more opportunities elsewhere in 2021.
Fabian Delph has had an awful time since joining Everton. He has been short of form, fitness and playing time at Goodison Park and could be offloaded at the next available opportunity. The 30-year-old is behind Andre Gomes, Allan, Tom Davies and Abdoulaye Doucoure in the central midfield pecking order and has managed only 364 minutes of playing time from a possible 1,710 this season.
Bernard has scored one goal and supplied two assists in eight games, but he has spent a lot of the season as an unused substitute and has James Rodriguez, Alex Iwobi, Richarlison and Anthony Gordon for competition on the left flank. It’s hard to see the 28-year-old being sold or loaned out in January as he provides useful cover, but that’s not to say that his situation isn’t precarious.
Cenk Tosun hasn’t scored a Premier League goal since January and has only amassed 33 minutes of league football since returning from a cruciate ligament injury in November, so he might be moved on for the right price and if a replacement is lined up.
