Everton defender Yerry Mina is reportedly being eyed by a Champions League club for a potential January move.
According to a recent report from Calciomercatoweb, Inter Milan have identified the Colombian as a potential replacement for Martin Skriniar, should the Slovakian depart the Serie A club in the winter.
With the Merseyside club seeing numerous players leaving Goodison Park since the end of last season, with Allan being the most recent departure towards the end of last month, it seems as though Mina could well be the next player to continue this Everton exodus in January.
The Toffees signed the Colombian from Barcelona in the summer of 2018 in a deal worth a reported £28.5m. Since then, the 28-year-old has gone on to make 92 appearances for Everton across all competitions, chipping in with seven goals along the way.
Having only appeared in the Toffees’ opening Premier League game of the season as a result of an ankle injury he picked up in the 1-0 defeat against Chelsea that day, this sums up the majority of his time at Goodison Park, as numerous injuries have impacted his playing time with Frank Lampard’s side.
With Everton having the likes of Conor Coady and James Tarkowski in their team who have helped the Toffees to boast the joint-best defensive record in the league at this point of the season, with just nine goals conceded from as many games, it could be said that Mina wouldn’t be a big miss for the team if he were to leave in January.
Previously slammed for his “awful” defensive work, it may also be a good move for Everton financially to get the Colombian out of the club, as he is currently their highest earner with a wage of £120k per week.
With all that in mind, if Inter do make a move to sign the 28-year-old in January, the Toffees should do all they can to work out the best deal possible which would see the defender finally bring his time at Goodison Park to an end.
