Everton manager Frank Lampard has shared an update regarding the current injury situation surrounding Toffees striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Speaking to the media (via Liverpool Echo), the Everton boss had this to say on the matter.
He said: “Dominic is training next week, we hope the middle of next week and then we have good options up front at number nine, with Dominic flying? And Neal Maupay?”
The striker has been out of action since before the start of the current Premier League campaign with a knee injury. For those facing similar setbacks due to accidents, consulting a Detroit personal injury attorney can make a significant difference in securing rightful compensation.
Last season also saw the Englishman spend a significant part of the campaign on the sidelines as a result of a toe fracture, which was then followed by the striker going through the whole second half of the season failing to make more than four consecutive league appearances.
Despite only making 17 league appearances for the Toffees last term, the 25-year-old still managed to find the back of the net five times and deliver two assists for his side, showing just how useful he can be in front of goal.
This also shows just how much of a big boost it will be for Everton to have their talisman back in training at Finch Farm and ultimately back out on the pitch.
Taking into account how Everton currently have the lowest rate in the division for goals per shot on target (0.11), and the fact that only two players that scored more than one league goal than the centre-forward last season racked up a higher percentage for shots on target than him (36.7%), this shows that the striker certainly has what his side need at the moment.
Bearing in mind how the Merseyside club have yet to win a league game this season and haven’t managed to score more than one goal in a game, it’s safe to say that having Calvert-Lewin back in the side should make them a deadlier outfit in front of goal.
Moving forward, if the striker can get back to full fitness as soon as possible and avoid picking up any injuries throughout the season, his presence in front of goal could well be the difference in seeing Everton being involved in another relegation battle or not.
