Everton have reportedly ‘made an approach’ for Internacional youngster Yuri Alberto.
The 20-year-old striker is believed to be hot property following a string of impressive displays in the Brazilian top flight.
Alberto, a compatriot of Allan and Richarlison, is wanted by AC Milan, Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, Lyon, Napoli and Roma as well as the Toffees.
That’s according to a report from Torcedore (via Sport Witness), as cited by Sean Lunt on Twitter.
The report claims that despite an agreement between the 14-cap Brazil youth ace and Milan already being in place, there remains a ‘significant’ difference in the valuations.
Internacional wants an €80million (£67.5million) release clause met in full whilst the Serie A table-toppers are hoping for a reduction in the fee.
Signed from Santos in 2020, Alberto has scored 28 goals and provided five assists in 78 appearances for The Red.
READ EVERTON VERDICT
Valued at £5.4million and under contract in Brazil until 2025 (Transfermarkt), paying the mooted eye-watering release clause would be a huge gamble for the Blues.
Albeit Rafa Benitez’ is in need of additional attacking options, as highlighted by recent injuries to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, spending an astronomical fee on a player untested in Europe is a risk.
Boasting strong attributes in the final third, were Alberto to become available at a more affordable price, Everton should then be involved in the pursuit.
