Former Everton striker Kevin Campbell has spoken of his belief that Everton could face an imminent transfer battle for defensive target Harry Souttar.
Scottish-born Australia international Souttar was being personally scouted by Everton assistant manager Duncan Ferguson, and Kevin’s son Tyrese Campbell is a starlet at Stoke – so the ex-Toffee was all-too familiar with Souttar’s talents.
The Toffees are reportedly watching the colossal bulwark with a view to a transfer as a result, but Campbell feels Everton will not have a clear run at his services.
When quizzed about the talents of the Stoke City centre-back, Campbell said:
“Good player. Real good player”, in an interview with Goodison News.
“Australian international, big, I’ve watched him quite a bit because of my son down there, I know the kid really well – I think he’s destined, there’s quite a few teams watching him.
“Harry Souttar has made a difference at the back for Stoke, I’ll tell you that much, really good player.”

Campbell’s authority is a formidable one given how through his son, he likely hears tales of the defender’s personality and ability.
In that view, it’s a considerable endorsement from the former Arsenal and Everton man – one that should not be taken likely.
Souttar could be a useful young longer-term replacement for the likes of Yerry Mina and Michael Keane as they enter their mature years as defenders, while his arrival could also spell doom for more peripheral figures such as Mason Holgate.
Goodison News suggest that Souttar could set back Everton by a similar £20 million fee to the one paid for Ben Godfrey – but that could be a shrewd Marcel Brands investment if Campbell is to be believed.
