Everton have been linked with a last-ditch attempt to strengthen their squad this summer.
Their season has already gotten off to a great start with two wins and a draw from their first three games.
New signings such as Demarai Gray have hit the ground running for the Toffees, with the winger bagging two goals.
However, it appears as though the Blues’ business is not yet complete, with one last signing targetted.
It had been reported a few days ago by Fabrizio Romano that Everton were attempting to sign FC Porto’s Luis Díaz.
Despite the club making their move, an agreement has yet to be reached between the two clubs.
Now, it appears as though the Toffees are making a last-ditch attempt on transfer deadline day.
According to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra, the club is offering James Rodríguez and more than €30million…
It has already been made clear by both the club and player that Rodriguez is no longer a part of their plans.
A deal involving the forward and the proposed €30million could be more than enough to encourage Porto.
With the cash offer and Rodriguez’s market value of over €28million, the deal could reach over €58million.
As Sierra states, the Liga NOS club will spend today studying the Blues’ proposal ahead of the deadline.
The journalist reports that these will be ‘decisive hours’ for both clubs, with Diaz reportedly keen on the move.
Benitez seems keen to bring a particular type of player to the club, with a prioritisation on wingers.
So far the likes of Gray and Andros Townsend have given strength in those positions.
Now, with the possibility of Diaz too, the club could be looking at a great squad overall with strength in all positions.
