Everton are in a real stage of transition this summer after the appointment of Rafa Benitez.
This transfer window will prove hugely important if they wish to build on their efforts from last season.
The shock departure of Carlo Ancelotti left Everton with a real setback in their plans for next season.
Plenty of transfer rumours have flown around already following Benitez’s appointment.
However, the latest comes in the form of a shock departure that may not have been expected by Blues fans.
According to the Dail Mail, via Sky Sports, the club are open to letting James Rodriguez leave this summer.
The Colombian forward joined the club back in September last year under Ancelotti and looked like a real coup.
His performances shone through and he impressed during his first campaign in the Premier League.
Now, it appears as though Rafa Benitez has different plans for the winger, with him not a part of his plans.
It seems a shock to let the starlet leave given his obvious talent and glimmers of what he can bring to the Toffees.
Despite this, the club are willing to let him leave and it looks as though AC Milan is the likeliest destination.
The Dail Mail quote that Milan are likely to take him on if they can afford his £200,000 a week wages.
They also state that Portuguese side FC Porto are also interested in the forward this summer.
It is fair to say that it won’t be hard for the club to offload the Colombian this summer with plenty of suitors available.
It just seems strange given how well he played last season and how he can help bring Everton to the next step.
Benitez clearly has his own vision and idea for the squad and losing James wouldn’t be the end of the world for Everton.
With a current market value of £25.2million, the club will be hoping to get a fair price for him.
However, they will need to reinvest that money wisely with the club aiming for European football next season.
