The past few days of the footballing world have been a rollercoaster of emotions.
Monday night saw the announcement of six of Premier League club’s involvement in the proposed European Super League.
Fast forward just 24 hours and those six clubs have now withdrawn their position within the proposal.
It is great news for the future of football and the fair competition that exists in our sport.
Plenty of reaction has been seen with outrage from the other 14 Premier League clubs.
Even Aston Villa’s Dean Smith spoke about the situation during his press conference yesterday…
As Smith states, what actually determines the Big Six and what warrants their inclusion in a supposed Super League?
Everton were once referred to as a member as the Big Five when the Premier League was born in 1992.
Yet fast forward almost 30 years and the supposed big clubs in the league are changing every season.
As Smith talks about, it is interesting to really try and determine what warrants the big six in this day and age.
The Premier League possesses an abundance of big clubs – so why do we only single out six?
There is no club in the world that deserves to break away in that manner to better themselves and leave the rest behind.
Luckily for football, the six English clubs have abandoned this attempt to jump ship and will now face the consequence.
