Everton are interested in signing Torino defender Nicolas Nkoulou in the summer, according to Torino Granata, and his arrival could be a shrewd piece of business from the Toffees.
The Toffees will be in the market for a new centre-back following the end of the season, having had just three senior centre-back options throughout the current campaign, and the Turin based outlet claim that the former Cameroon international has emerged as a potential recruit, with West Ham and Bournemouth also keen.
HITC claim that Nkoulou is expected to leave Torino in the summer, and the Premier League trio are all interested in bringing him to England for the first time in his career, while they could all offer him a marked improvement on his current wages.
The 29-year old has plenty of experience playing at the top level, having been a regular fixture for Torino since signing permanently in 2018, while he has played European football during both his stints with Lyon and Marseille.
Known as a leader figure at the back, Nkoulou has been credited as a competent passer and strong tackler, and those attributes as well as his ability to read the game could help him settle quickly alongside either Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate, both of whom could help him overcome the rigours of the Premier League.
The aforementioned duo have performed well this season, while Michael Keane has found it more difficult to establish himself, and Nkoulou would add much needed competition and depth to that group, should Everton pursue a permanent move.
Rated at just £12.6million by Transfermarkt, Nkoulou could also be a fairly cost effective signing, which would greatly help Everton as they look to avoid financial fair play restrictions, having announced record losses in January.
Should Everton continue to focus on the Italian market as they look to enhance their squad in the summer, Nkoulou could be a very sensible signing for the Blues to make.
