Whilst this is a promising development, it has to be taken with a grain of salt and Everton fans should hold off on celebrating his appointment until it is 100% official and confirmed by the club. If it does go through, though, it is a huge sign of intent by Everton – showing that they are willing to pay to get the best of the best and progress as a club.
Ancelotti has won trophies in every country he has managed, leading the likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich to success. He, potentially, now has the different task of trying to lead Everton away from relegation danger and towards the top half of the table.
Despite Ferguson producing an excellent result against Manchester United over the weekend, Everton should not be sentimental if given the opportunity to bring a manager of Ancelotti’s stature to the club.
