As Everton agree a deal to sign Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Paul Joyce has reported that the club will now turn their attention to signing a new central defender.
Everton have already spent around £30 million to bring in Andre Gomes permanently and England international Fabian Delph. Gbamin will add to what could be a new-look Toffees midfield.
Add to that a potential deal to bring in Moise Kean from Juventus and Marco Silva has an exciting Everton squad on his hands ahead of the new campaign.
The club have been left a little light at the back though after the departures of Kurt Zouma and Phil Jagielka.
A permanent move to sign the Chelsea defender is still not being ruled out, but Chelsea’s transfer ban makes a deal increasingly unlikely.
With days running out in the summer transfer window, we’ve taken a closer look at some of the central defenders that the club could target.
