Yerry Mina has revealed that he spoke with Philippe Coutinho before finalising his deal to move to Everton in the summer.
The central defender made his full Premier League debut against Chelsea on Sunday, keeping a clean sheet against one of the more potent attacks in England’s top division.
Despite signing for Barcelona in January, Mina was jetting off again just a few months later, having put pen to paper on a deal that saw the Toffees send the Catalan giants approximately €30 million for the Colombian.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Mina gave fans a peek behind the curtain on his decision-making process when deciding to join the Merseysiders.
The 24-year-old said:
When the talk came around that I might be coming to Everton, I had got on well with [Philippe] Coutinho in my time at Barcelona and so I got on the phone to him and he was telling me all about the city,
He told me to relax and that I would be fine. I am lucky enough to do a job I love doing but certainly Coutinho gave me advice, he knew all I wanted to do was play football and told me that Everton were a good club and that I wouldn’t go wrong by coming here.
Coutinho spent five years with cross-city rivals Liverpool FC before sealing a €142 million transfer to Barcelona in January of 2018.
