Everton are in talks to sign Stoke City midfielder Badou Ndiaye, according Stoke on Trent live.
Football Insider are reporting that Everton boss Marco Silva is keen sign a defensive midfielder this summer, with the Stoke City man one of his top transfer target.
Ndiaye only arrived at Stoke from Galatasary on the final day of the January transfer window in a £14million deal but has been linked with a move away from the club this summer following their relegation from the Premier League.
Galatasaray are believed to be keen on taking the Senegal international back to Turkey, but it looks likely that Galatasaray would only be interested in a loan-deal for the player.
Newcastle United were also thought to be interested in the 27-year-old midfielder but Everton are now believed to be leading the race for his signature.
Ndiaye featured 13 times for Stoke last season, netting two goals for The Potters.
Ndiaye started in a pre-season friendly against Wolves last week and is under contract at the Bet 365 Stadium until 2022.
However the 27-year-old does have a release clause in his contract, one which is substantially higher than the £14million fee that Stoke paid for him back in January.
New Stoke City boss Gary Rowett has had his say on the transfer speculation surrounding Ndiaye.
We know he’s a top player and he will be coveted by a lot of teams across Europe, but he’s our player, he’s under contract with us and ultimately he remains our player. We’ll bring him back in, we’ll work with him.
