Everton have made plans to hold talks with Wayne Rooney’s agent in hope of persuading him to remain at the club, according to the Daily Mail.
A deal of £12.5 million has been put in place with MLS side DC United and the former United man which is set to be completed in July.
However, Everton are hopeful that they can persuade the player to remain at the club beyond the current season, despite only re-joining the club this season after spending 14 years at Manchester United.

Rooney is on £150,000 a week in wages and the club are hoping to entice him to remain at the club to avoid creating more discontent among fans.
He is set to miss the final game of the season against West Ham today as he’s out with a knee injury which also saw him miss last weekend’s draw against Southampton.
Rooney has fallen out of favour with current boss Sam Allardyce and is hoping to get the final move of his career.
