It’s been revealed by Everton that Wayne Rooney had to take a 50% pay cut in order to move back to the club this summer, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
Rooney rejoined his boyhood club last summer on a free transfer after his 13 year spell at Manchester United came to an end.
The former England man was earning £300,000 at United but it’s been revealed that he has been earning half of that at the Toffees since his return to Merseyside.
Rooney has performed well this season since his return to the club, netting 11 goals in all competitions.
Last night Rooney picked up the Goal of the Season award and the Individual Performance of the Season award for his stunning display against West Ham United at the club’s end-of-season awards ceremony.
