Judging by the reports coming out over the past few days, Everton have well and truly given up on Europe. Phil Jagielka, Wayne Rooney and Leighton Baines have all stayed at home and younger players have been called up to the squad, such as Morgan Feeney.
It’s a shame, as while we’re very unlikely to have gotten through, it would have been nice to at least go out fighting instead of rolling over and conceding.
Now don’t get me wrong, there could be a shock result over in France, but I wouldn’t count on it. The focus now will be on finding the next man to lead the club, and if there is some shock results coming up, it still could very well be David Unsworth. And to be honest, it wouldn’t be the first time Everton turn up when we’re losing all hope.
They’ll draw us back in and then when we start getting some optimism back into our blue blood, we’ll lose 2-0 to Leicester.
