So continues our run of tough early season games. Next up we have Chelsea, who, while looking weakened, are by no means a walkover.
They’re still the champions and largely have the same squad that stormed the league last time around (and also rolled over us, but okay that’s football) and Stamford Bridge is never a nice place to go. This seems even more apparent with our ever-thinning squad. With the tragic news of Mo Bešic’s father coming out today, he is unlikely to be available for selection. With Idrissa Gana Gueye doubtful and Davy Klaassen, Morgan Schneiderlin and James McCarthy all out, our midfield is barebones to say the least.
Also, with Koeman yet to bring in a striker, we only have Dominic Calvert-Lewin for selection up top. To garner another point similar to Monday night would be a great result. We’ll need another solid defensive performance which is much more attainable nowadays with Michael Keane and Jordan Pickford lining up at the back.
Anyway, with what little I have to choose from, here’s my XI.
