Everton have reportedly identified Crystal Palace forward Christian Benteke as an alternative option to Olivier Giroud this summer.
The Toffees are on the lookout for a new striker to lead the line next season, with Romelu Lukaku’s big-money move to Manchester United having been confirmed this afternoon.
It’s been widely reported that Everton have picked out Arsenal striker Giroud as their primary target to replace the Belgian, but the Daily Mail have today claimed that Benteke has been identified as a backup option.

A move for Giroud may not be plausible this summer, with Arsenal appearing to be keen to keep hold of the 30-year-old for next season.
This has seemingly prompted Ronald Koeman to eye up Benteke, who was in good form for Palace in the second half of last season, helping them to retain their Premier League status.
Everton will be focused on landing an out-and-out goal scorer for the remainder of the summer, with Lukaku’s move away finally confirmed.
