Everton believe they can conclude a deal for Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford by Friday, according to the Daily Mail, after the club sent a delegation to Poland to complete a medical yesterday.
Previously, Pickford had said that he would wait for the end of the Under-21 European Championships so that he could focus on performing well with England. Only then would he deal with his future.
However, with Pickford entitled to a three-week break once the tournament finishes, Everton sent a delegation to Kielce to ensure that the deal is concluded before England’s opening game against Sweden on Friday.
Pickford will become Everton’s most expensive signing in their history at £30million, with the 23-year old taking the mantle from Romelu Lukaku.
It represents a different approach from Everton than in recent years, with the club acting swiftly to get business concluded early, rather than leave it till later on in the transfer window.
