Reports in Germany suggest that Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Hakan Çalhanoğlu is looking to England or Italy for his next career move, with Everton and Tottenham reportedly interested.
According to German source Bild, as cited in HITC, the Turkey international will finally leave Die Werkself this summer, and a whole host of top European clubs are sure to be interested in him.
Italian side Lazio and Turkish duo Galatasaray and Besiktas are also said to be interested in Çalhanoğlu, but the 23-year old isn’t currently interested in a move back to his familial homeland.
The report claims that Leverkusen are willing to sell the attacker for £22.1million, which could attract Everton who are looking to sign a creative midfielder, with Ross Barkley’s future seemingly lying elsewhere. With a wealth of Champions League experience under his belt, Çalhanoğlu would certainly add much needer quality to Ronald Koeman’s squad.
The Toffees have also been linked with a move for Swansea playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson, but Çalhanoğlu would represent a slightly cheaper option, not to mention that he has numerous years on the Icelandic midfielder.
Çalhanoğlu has played his club football exclusively in Germany, his country of birth. He scored Turkey’s only goal in their friendly loss to England last May, where the Three Lions went on to win 2-1.
