Everton’s pursuit of Burnley defender Michael Keane could be back on, with it looking less likely that Keane will sign for former team Manchester United this summer.
According to Portuguese source Record, as cited on HITC, United look set to sign Benfica defender Victor Lindelof this summer, which could aid Everton in their chase for Burnley’s Players’ Player of the Year.
Lindelof’s arrival is anticipated to cost the Red Devils £30 million, and it could see the club pass up the opportunity to sign Keane.
It is believed that United were interested in signing one centre-back this summer, so two players coming in, both expected to cost a significant amount of money, is unlikely to happen.
Several weeks ago, the Daily Mail reported that Keane had his heart set on a return to Old Trafford, but with that move potentially off the table due to the expected signing of the 22-year old Swede, he may be forced to consider other options.
Ronald Koeman has already confirmed that Keane was someone he was considering this summer, and so the Dutchman may be tempted to swoop in and bring the England international to Goodison Park.
