Everton have today submitted their retained list ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
Published on evertonfc.com, the club detailed which players would leave the club on the expiry of their contracts this summer and gave them thanks.
Two senior strikers headlined the departure list, with Arouna Koné and “club veteran” Conor McAleny leaving Merseyside.
Koné joined the Toffees from Wigan in the summer of 2013. After suffering an untimely injury early in to his Everton career, Koné missed most of his debut season for the club.
The 33-year old Ivorian’s best moment in an Everton shirt was his hat-trick scored in the 6-2 win over Sunderland in November 2015. In all competitions, Koné scored 10 goals in 61 appearances for the club.
McAleny joined Everton as an 11-year old back in 2003, making just three first-team appearances for the club. Principally due to injury issues, McAleny failed to break into the first-team plans of either David Moyes, Roberto Martínez or Ronald Koeman, spending most of his time out on loan.
The 24-year old most recently played for Oxford United, joining the U’s on loan in January, scoring 10 times in 19 appearances.
Everton also released eight players from the Under-23s squad; Jack Bainbridge, Delial Brewster, Michael Donohue, Tyrone Duffus, Russell Griffiths, Connor Hunt, Josef Yarney and James Yates.
