It seems that it won’t be long now until Romelu Lukaku finally brings his time on Merseyside to a close, after Sky Sports confirmed earlier that the player has reached an agreement with another club.
After speaking to the foreign press whilst on international duty with Belgium earlier today, a large number of journalists reported Lukaku’s claims that he was in talk with an unspecified club.
Lukaku went on to say that he wanted to play Champions League football, and that his aim was to win the Premier League “a few times”. He also said that his agent “knows what’s going to happen”.
When pressed on whether staying at Everton was a possibility, Lukaku said, “Staying at Everton? That’s not really an option, I think.”
Everton fans have known for some time that it was likely Lukaku would move on to bigger and better things, but now it seems that his time at the club is almost up.
Manchester United and former club Chelsea have been the two clubs most heavily linked with a move for the 24-year old, but Manchester Evening News last night reported that Bayern Munich had entered the race – however if the player himself is to be believed, he’ll be staying in England.
Whilst Lukaku and his agent Mino Raiola are currently keeping their cards close to their chests in regards to where Lukaku will be playing next season, it seems that it almost certainly won’t be for Everton.
