Everton achieved their best home points total for 30 years as they swept aside Watford in a dull match to close out the season at Goodison Park.
A dull first half is becoming a recurring phrase I use in these reports, yet once again it’s a fitting way to describe how the initial 45 went.
Other than a Tom Davies rocket stinging the hands of Gomes in goal, I can’t recall anything of note occurring, other than maybe a pushing match about halfway through.
Okaka falling over entertained me too. The refereeing standard from Kevin Friend was abysmal to be polite, as he missed almost every foul for both teams, proving it’s not just the players who go on holiday at this time of the season.

It was a similar story in the second half, with little spark to set the game alight.
Everton opened the scoring on 56 minutes, with Ross Barkley sweeping home from 20 yards past Gomes, who was slow to get down and should’ve done much better, after a wonderful from renowned creative genius Phil Jagielka.
Yet even a goal failed to get the game going, probably thanks to the introduction of old man Barry and the loveable bundle of joy that is Arouna Koné.
Both sides had a penalty shout later on, but by this point, nobody cared.
The result moves Everton from 7th all the way to 7th in the Premier League (surprise surprise), leaving us with lots to play for on the final day, as a potential 7th place finish awaits.
Like that’s ever been in doubt.
